Eric Dye:
This is Eric Dye and thanks for tuning in once again to Enterprise Radio here on EPN. If you’re not already connected with us on our various social media outlets, we invite you to do so by following us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter all at E Podcast Network. Today we’re speaking with Mr. Howard Lesnik, a lawyer for Mountainside, New Jersey, representing people who have been seriously injured as a result of negligence and criminal defense cases. And Mr. Lesnik, thanks for joining us here today on Enterprise Radio.
Howard Lesnik:
Pleasure to be here. Thanks for having me.
Eric Dye:
Our pleasure, and thanks for your time. So for purposes of background, give our listeners an overview of Lesnik Law, if you would.
Howard Lesnik:
Sure. Well, I have been an attorney for 20 years. After law school, I actually clerked for a criminal judge and watched criminal trials firsthand, which included drug trials and murder trials. After the clerkship, I always practiced criminal and personal injury law. About three years ago, I opened my own firm and I personally handle all my client’s personal injury cases from start to finish. I also enjoy giving my clients a personal touch. All my clients have my cell phone number and can call or text me after hours and even on the weekend.
Eric Dye:
And that certainly is a big time bonus right there. Now as an injury law specialist, what types of injuries do you focus on the most?
Howard Lesnik:
Sure. As an injury specialist, my first goal is try to make sure my clients receive the medical treatment that they need. They need to treat with the right doctor for a personal injury case. And since I’m not a medical doctor, I make sure they’re referred to the appropriate specialist who can examine them and refer them for other testing and treatment if necessary. My practice focuses primarily on all permanent injuries. Permanent injuries in the law mean loss of function of a body part that will not heal to the way it was before the accident.
A common example that we give in court of a permanent injury is a herniated disc. This happens when the center of a disc pushes out of the inside of the desk. And the example that we give is think of a jelly donut. When the jelly is squeezed out of the donut or in this case a disc, it can never be pushed back in. And since it can never heal, it is a permanent injury and discs in your neck and on your back or on your spine, so this equates to a permanent injury that’s on your spine that will never heal.
Eric Dye:
And that certainly is a serious situation and definitely a serious injury. No doubt. Now what should people who have suffered an injury know or what is the most important point you want them to know about their legal rights within a personal injury?
Howard Lesnik:
Good question. Well, the first thing they should do is always seek medical treatment. Sometimes symptoms do not show up for two or even three days after an accident. Also, they should always try to take photos of the accident scene or dangerous condition that caused them be injured, if they can right from their cell phone if possible. And in the case of car accidents, always must wait at the accident scene for police to arrive to make a report and tell them what happened in the accident. The next thing they should do is always report the accident to their insurance company and remember, never speak with the insurance company for the other car. And most certainly never sign anything from the other insurance company.
Last thing, most attorneys also offer free initial consultations. I myself offer a free strategy session for 30 minutes, but I also feel like I can answer any question over the phone when anyone has a question about an accident after their injury.
Eric Dye:
Certainly is awesome to have people like you in this space that can help out in a really serious situation such as personal injuries and know their rights and have complete and direct contact with you. That is absolutely phenomenal. Today we’re joined by Mr. Howard Lesnik, a lawyer from Mountainside, New Jersey, representing people who have been seriously injured as a result of negligence and criminal defense cases. He’s joined us here today on Enterprise Radio, a part of the legal corner here on EPN of the Enterprise Podcast Network. Now Mr. Lesnik, what other areas of law do you practice as well?
Howard Lesnik:
As I said, after law school, I clerked for a criminal judge and I’m actually a board certified criminal trial attorney by New Jersey Supreme Court, which basically means I’m also an expert in the field of criminal law. In New Jersey, there are about 80,000 attorneys and only 3% of these attorneys in New Jersey are board certified, so I handle criminal matters in Superior court as well as municipal court matters, traffic tickets and DWI cases throughout the entire state of New Jersey. I also happen to be a member of New Jersey’s Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee is a New Jersey Supreme Court committee, which investigates grievances filed against other attorneys and I handle investigations and I present my reports to the Ethics Committee and also to the New Jersey Supreme Court. And this is a volunteer position, so I’m honored to do it.
Eric Dye:
Fantastic. And certainly impressive on your part to be able to volunteer in that way. As we conclude, remind our listeners how you may be able to help them within a serious personal injury.
Howard Lesnik:
Sure. Well, I offer free strategy sessions to everyone who calls my office. I also provide information on my website and I have links that provide information and questions to ask a criminal or a civil attorney when you’re looking to hire an attorney in NJ. They’re specific questions that you should ask any attorney before you decide to use them for your case, whether it’s a criminal case or a personal injury case. In addition to helping clients with claims for their personal injuries, when I’m your attorney, I also make sure clients receive the medical treatment that they need, and also help them with their medical expenses for their injuries that they have as well as future costs of medical expenses and out of pocket expenses for property damage to the vehicles. There’s free information at my website which is www.lesniklaw.com. And anyone who emails me or calls me, I always respond within 24 hours and I look forward to hearing from anyone.
Eric Dye:
Again, Mr. Lesnik, all the best and thanks so much for joining us here today on Enterprise Radio. Much appreciated.
Howard Lesnik: Thank you. You have a great one too.
